Sound seems to be fattened

Hey there,

I recently became member of the rekordbox users by buying an RB. Quite happy with the program, gives me a fresh feeling after years of traktor using. But..

I find out the sound which comes out of traktor is WAY much clearer, but less maybe less power. It seems the music, if i comparing it with the sound that comes out of, for instance, playing the song on VLC is much more fattened in rekordbox. The bass is amazingly powered up. This has nothing to do with my level of volume since on low volume the overrated bass is still there.

Now i can understand a lot of people like this since i see nobody talking about it. But if youre playing something like minimal/deephouse it makes it very complicated to work with the tiny differences in and between the songs, this way they are just completely eaten by the boosted sound.

My question is, can I turn this boost down? Or off?

There should be no difference unless you have an EQ or effect running. Do you notice this difference when using the same hardware for audio output with each software?

I dont hear difference between listening to the song on VLC on the RB or my macbook. It's not the soundcard, its rekordbox filling up. EQ is on zero and not playing an effect.

No, what I mean, is if you use the RB as the output for rekordbox and Traktor, is there a difference between the two?

Yes traktor sounds less fat, more clear songs while using the RB listening trough the headphones.

Ok, I now made a proper test with traktor on the left side and rekordbox on the right, and it seems to be the same. My apologies for the mistake, i guess its in my ear.

I guess the difference in the filter makes it different while mixing since I use in between all the songs, and the filters Traktor and Rekordbox are very different. The traktor filter has a longer clearer sound while turning it to max. I guess that is a difference that is not going to change?

I do still have one problem with recording: the bass is making an overload sound, even on low volume. The way to fix this is to even go lower in volume? Since it is not that loud in my opinion.
