DDJ-SP1 and Rekordbox Audio Dropout

I recently purchased a used DDJ-SP1 from Guitar Center. It seems to be in very good condition, but I get audio dropouts anytime I make a quick motion with the fader or knobs. I noticed it immediately upon using the device. I updated the firmware at that time, but there was no change regarding the audio dropouts. I also have a XDJ-RX2 connected to the laptop and I don't have any issues with it. Adjusting the FX from the XDJ causes no audio dropouts, but adjusting the same effect with the SP1 causes dropouts. I'm using an HP Elitebook with an i7 processor and Windows 7 Pro. Both devices are connected to USB 3.0 ports. Does anyone have any ideas why the SP1 is so resource intensive that it causes the dropouts?

Thanks in advance.

There is no audio running true the sp1 so it should be a problem with your

connection.. maybe the USB power is to low for the Sp1?

Try it with a powered dongle.

Or maybe just a bad usb cable?

Yep, my guess would be that the USB chipset is the culprit. Try using a different USB port (one which may be connected to a different host), or even a powered USB hub. Typically USB3 ports are capable of providing enough power, but that may still be the issue.

Also, given that you're running Windows 7, I wouldn't exactly rank that computer as powerful, even though it meets the minimum specs. Be sure to disable any other background applications / tasks which may interfere, including antivirus software or other 'accelerator' software. Also disconnect / disable your bluetooth, wifi, or any other USB or system devices to try and troubleshoot this.

Thanks for the responses guys. I connected the SP1 to a USB port on the opposite side of the laptop, and I have no issues now. I guess the two USB 3.0 ports share an interrupt request channel (IRQ). The port I have the SP1 connected to is only USB 2.0. I will say, I'm surprised to hear that this is not a "powerful" computer. It is my work laptop, and I have had it for 5-6 years, but it has been very fast, and rarely lets me down.. I'm not a fan of Windows 8 and after, but I know I need to learn to use it.

Thanks again!
