XDJ-RX2 Bug in Firmware 1.23 when rating a song

I've found a bug in the latest firmware (1.23) on my XDJ-RX2:

When rating a song on deck 2 the rating will be saved in the song on deck 1.
When rating a song on deck 1 the rating will be saved correctly on that song.

I hope you can fix it in the next firmware update.

And it would be great if we could edit the other info, like tags, comments etc too.

Hello Pascal,

In the XDJ-RX2 firmware v.1.32 released on June 21, 2018, the issue "Deck 2 tracks ratings saved on deck 1" was fixed.

Thank you for reporting this issue.

Please download and install the new firmware 1.32 and provide us with your honest feedback.

Best regards,

CRM, Pioneer DJ

Hmmm... that does sound like a problem. We'll pass that along.

Unfortunately, editing the other information is not available, this was a decision made to not provide that functionality because of the limited capacity for editing on the unit itself. Currently the only things you can edit are the rating, tag list (and then create a playlist from it), and grid.

Thanks for your fast reply. :) If I‘ll find another bug I‘ll let you know.
I had this Error in Recordbox Link Mode. Don‘t know if it happens with an usb device too.

For editing the other information maybe it could be possible to use the on-screen keyboard like the one in the search.

I tested it in stand-alone (USB) mode and that's where it happened for me, so it's likely in all modes. Thanks for the feedback.

This issue will be addressed in an upcoming firmware release, however the request for ability to edit additional fields is not something they can include on the RX2, but thanks for your input.

Please tell us why, with the beautiful touchscreen the rx2 has, we won't get the ability to edit other fields like the comments for example?? It seems like a terrible decision if it was, as you mentioned earlier "intentional". Why? As to intentionally NOT give us the functionality we actually need?

I am a computer coder and I can't see any reason or limitation that would preclude this functionality. Editing text on a song tag should be about the simplest thing to implement.

I'm not on the rekordbox development team, so I can't speak to their reasoning why it's not available, I can only speculate that it was not implemented due to a difficulty in editing the export database / metadata for the tracks themselves on the device as opposed to within the software itself.

While you and I could suggest that something "should be easy," there are likely reasons they have never done so, and it's not just to frustrate the users. ;)
