@David > No, the MyTag applies to the song itself, everywhere that song exists.
My recommendation for something like this would be to put it into a custom playlist.
Scenario:
I get 20 must plays from a client ... so I create a playlist called "Smith" and then build a playlist around their music tastes. I want to know what their "must plays" are so I tag them "Smith Must Plays" ....
My problem is that this tag then carries over to every other playlist where that song is added...
Is there a way of tagging a song inside a playlist only.
Failing that ... surely there must be a way to highlight a song or colour code it inside a playlist in order for me to know it's a "must play" ??
Cheers

Have you considered using the TAG LIST? It's sort of like the Preparation list fom Traktor. It is a temporary list.
I have used the tag list. The problem is that I have multiple events on over a weekend. So if I tag a song "Musy Play" then it repeats that tag on every other playlist that weekend. I can create a tag called "Smith Must play"... But again. This then interferes with other playlists. I literally just want to highly a song within a playlist and NOWHERE else so I know within that particular playlist that I must play the song.
It's already in a custom playlist.
So within the custom playlist is it a case that there is absolutely no way to highlight a song as a "Must Play" without that tag or data being carried over to every single other playlist in my collection.
The custom playlist is "Smith" as mentioned in the original post?
Smith gives me loads of must plays. I then continue the playlist building around these must plays. I add tags to the must plays.
But I am doing an event for "Jones" the following day...... If Jones has any of the songs that are tagged "Must Play" in the Smith playlist then it becomes a nightmare.
Is there no facility to literally highlight a song in a playlist. I used to do this in Serato regularly?
In Serato, there is no way to highlight or identify a song separate of the others. What I do there is put it into a separate sub-crate, and as those are shown in the parent crate as well (which, unfortunately, rekordbox can't do yet), I can see them in their requests, or by going into the must-play crate.
You could go so far as to create a custom MyTag for that event "MP - SMITH" and "MP - JONES" for the other... that way you can apply a filter or intelligent playlist for those tags.
