I'm running the latest version of Rekordbox and apparently there are no needed firmware updates for the DDJ 400.
Some context: my friend - who will comment to confirm the issue - got a DDJ 400 before I did and would randomly run into the issue where both songs will be playing (fully beat matched) and at a random point during his mix, the left deck would start moving at a faster rate than the right deck and it would come out of sync. The BPMs were not touched (BPM sync was on) and they still read as the same BPM yet the left deck is moving quicker than the right and was becoming more and more out of sync. The only fix - restarting Rekordbox which fully resolved it (until it happened again and another restart would be required).
I thought this was an isolated problem with his DDJ 400 / computer so went and got my own. And I've been using it for under an hour and I've run into two major issues that are stopping me:
1) Mid-mix every 5-10 minutes or so I get an error saying "Invalid operation: in sync mode, tempo slider is only available for Master Deck" which freezes both tracks for a few seconds and then they continue playing in sync like normal. I have a good PC, 12gb RAM, i5 Processor, and I didn't have anything else open. I am yet to find a fix for this issue even after restarting it still keeps happening
2) The exact same problem as my friend as I explained above. BPM sync on, mid mix, and my left deck starts going at a quicker rate than the right despite me mixing the two songs on the drop no issues. Even after turning BPM sync off they still keep drifting apart despite being the same BPM. Restarted Rekordbox to fix.
These problems DO NOT occur when the DDJ 400 is not plugged in and I mix with my mouse.
How can this be happening when I haven't even had them for an hour. And what boggles me is how me and my friend are having the exact same issue yet I haven't been able to find one person having the same problem on Pioneer forums or on Reddit. Please do some explaining Pioneer tech wizards this is ridiculous.

Two things I forgot to add:
In section 1, even when I turn off BPM sync I still get a freeze randomly for a few seconds only this time no error comes up.
In section 2, sometimes my friend can go for hours with this not happening at all and on other times it happens every 5 minutes after a restart
Here's some videos I got off the issue:
Problem 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcdQrgtMqmo
Problem 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReN09ItOD90
For this one compare the beatgrids from the start to the end of the video if that makes it easier, BPM sync is off and they are correctly beatgrided and work normally
I am the person who is having the same problem. I have had the DDJ 400s for just over two months and am having it issue. It occurs at a range of times, sometimes 5mins into mixing, other times I can mix for over an hour without it happening. The only fix is to restart rekordbox, otherwise it is impossible to mix. Please help us!
Many thanks
Have you tried disabling the Intel Turbo Boost and setting your maximum CPU usage to 99% in the power settings?
As for that error 2 video, you didn't have the decks in sync, as noted by the fact the SYNC text was grey.
The other thing our engineers have suggested is ensuring you're using a USB3 port, not USB2.
1) I've now disabled power boost according to this tutorial https://www.tautvidas.com/blog/2011/04/disabling-intel-turbo-boost/
2) And the decks were 100% in perfect sync (with BPM sync on). At a random point despite it being in BPM sync the left deck starts drifting away from the right deck even though they were fine for the first minute of mixing. I turned off the sync because I thought maybe the issue was there but it kept drifting anyway. The only fix for this is to restart Rekordbox.
3) I've been using USB3 this whole time
Ok so far so good with the power settings. The tempo error hasnt come up once in like 15 mins. But as I said the decks moving (even when in sync) is completely random for both me and my friend so I'll report back if it happens again.
I am having a very similar problem. I have just purchased the DDJ-400 and Rekordbox has not played 1 song while the DDJ-400 is connected.
It will play if the DDJ-400 is not connected, it seems to have no issues without the DDJ connected. While the DDJ is connected the songs play for max 2 seconds and then freeze for 3-5 seconds, and then play 2 seconds and freeze 5 seconds...
I have made sure my sound drivers are up to date.
I have also followed your instructions: "disabling the Intel Turbo Boost and setting your maximum CPU usage to 99% in the power settings" and "ensuring you're using a USB3 port, not USB2"
I have spent at least 3 hours now trying to get it to work, probably more but I dont wanna discourage myself.
I am not sure what to do at this point. Can anyone assist me please?
I have tried the solutions you gave and I am still getting the 2nd issue as Mxwl explains. One of the tracks begins to shift and nudge on it own. This is happening at random amounts of time but usually around 5-10mins into mixing.
Many thanks
Problem 1
This is still happening just much more infrequently
Problem 2
Here is further proof the moving deck issue isn't human error. There is a fault in the DDJ 400 hardware / firmware which is causing this issue to happen only on the DDJ 400

My friend is running a different version of Rekordbox on his own PC and using his own DDJ 400 yet we are having the exact same problem. Also if you say it's an issue with the BPM sync well as you will see in the original 'Problem 2' video of this issue, BPM sync was off and you told me to turn it on. Well here is the issue with it on. Please explain Pioneer.
I've passed this along to our rekordbox and DDJ teams to see what they say.
Can someone please forward to support to actually read the post instead of just completely avoiding every point I raised
Hello Alex,
We already saw your inquiry and will answer the issues and questions one by one.
Thank you for your kind patience until any update is ready.

I am currently experiencing this same issue. I have no issues on my friends DDJ1000, however on my new DDJ400, the beats seem to come out of sync on their own. This is both while manually beat matching & using sync.
@Sean > Sorry to hear that, please file an inquiry ticket here and our rekordbox support team will be able to gather some additional information to assist you in resolving this issue.
