It's possible that your computer isn't providing adequate power over the USB to the controller; please try using a different USB port, a different USB cable, a powered USB hub, or even a different computer to see what might be causing it.
Hello guys,
My rekordbox says my ddj-400 is connected. But my ddj-400 is in a kind of standby mode. The lights are on half of their max and I cannot play any kind of music on my controller. My music will only play in my speakers and will not go over the ddj-400. I already checked if my rekordbox was on export-mode, but it is on performance-mode. I don't know how to fix this do you guys have any idea?
Thank you in advance!

But it worked before, i did not use it for quite some time and for some reason it is not working now. Thank you for you fast answer!
Give those a try first and let us know what the results are.
I all tried them, even tried my laptop. But my controller keeps looking like it is standby.
Did you try another computer?
I did it was an older one though, but it is still the same
And if i restart everything my controller lights up like 2 times, and after 10 seconds it looks like its going in this standby kind of mode and I won't be able to DJ on it...
Did you try a different USB cable with that other computer? If you've eliminated all possible points of failure, then it could be the hardware itself is the problem - please contact Pioneer DJ technical support in your region to have your DDJ inspected and/or serviced.
I have checked everything, i will contact Pioneer DJ thank you for your help!
pls am also having this same issue right now my ddi 400 not playing from the equiment pls i need a solution
My controller has also failed in the same manner used it in November for a gig and was 3rd time ever using it. Lights up for a few seconds and goes dim. Less than 6 months old. FAIL. Think im going to open her up since there is no warranty on it. Will let ya know.
Per my first reply on this topic, the main reason this happens is inadequate power from the USB host. Try plugging it directly to a high powered USB brick (suitable for a tablet, not a phone) and see if it illuminates as expected. If it does, the problem is your computer.
Hi, I would like to say the issue is resolved, A lil background, it has always ran on a mac book pro 2012 high sierra USB and never had this issue so can rule out 100% that is was not adequate power. Also, had a new USB unused switched that out and same issue, power cord was fine. In Dim mode a few light did work like master cue and a few other random buttons that would light up. I then plugged the unit into my windows machine with all new high powered USB modules. Again exact same thing. Decided it must be software, went back switched between lighting and unplugging plugin it in while all lights turned on I went thru and started pushing all the different buttons, had a theory that maybe one of them was stuck as happened to me once on my push. Went back into DJ Mode, re plugged in the device and all of a sudden it cycled thru lights and I pushed play!!! magically it was working again on my mac. Im not saying this will work for you but can guarantee it was not my USB as repetitively stated.
