DDJ 1000 Pitch Fader Bug

Hey guys,

I'm having a DDJ 1000 pitch fader bug. The fader/s freeze/s and I am not able to change the pitch. It "wakes up" after few up-n-down significant slides, which obviously sucks (a lot) as it makes impossible to do the basic DJ things.

I saw the post about it here https://forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360001286906-DDJ-1000-Pitch-Control-Issue and people are having this problem, but nobody really gave any solution for that and I'm having this issue every time I play.

It's very annoying.

How can I fix that?

When you're mixing, the deck selected as "master" will switch automatically based on several criteria (such as whether or not that deck is still playing, or you've entered a loop). When that happens, the master will switch from one deck to the other. What happens then is the new master deck would require you to move the hardware fader to match the position of the software fader, as the sync may have put it in a different position.

For example - deck 1 was the master playing a 128BPM track, deck 2 was the slave playing a 126BPM deck. The pitch faders for both were at 0%, but you pressed the sync button for deck 2, meaning the software pitch of deck 2 is now at +1.59% to match. But once deck 1 stops and deck 2 becomes the master, moving the pitch fader on deck 2 will do nothing ... until you go to the +1.59% position to "pick up" the software fader to move it. Only then will any other movement affect the actual pitch of the deck.

Does it move when that deck is the MASTER or the deck is not sync'd with another deck?

The issue appears when I want to change the pitch of the master deck, but the fact of being synced with another deck or not doesn't change here anything, because I was trying several different options and nothing really made the fader active instantly.

Were you trying to change the pitch after the master deck switched, and you hadn't yet done a software "pick up" to move the fader to the position of the pitch for that deck first?

Sorry, I'm not getting what exactly do you mean.

"Were you trying to change the pitch after the master deck switched"

Switched from what to what?

"and you hadn't yet done a software "pick up" to move the fader to the position of the pitch for that deck first?"

Please explain in details what exactly do you mean?

I have the same problem. I think most of the DJs who are from the turntable era and those using Serato feel my pain. When I need the pitch to change, there should not be a pitch "lock" imposed by the system. DJs need the pitch to move instantly especially during a crucial mixing process. This must be fixed please. It is annoying, frustrating and ruins has ruined my mixes time and time again when this pitch "lock" or "freeze" takes place.

@georgerudy > It's not that it's "broken" and needs to be "fixed," just that it's not intuitive if you're used to another system (such as Serato DJ with relative pitch). We hope that our engineers are able to implement other sync options in a future update.

Thanks for responding so quickly Pioneer. I've been working at this issue for weeks now and still can't get the pitch to slide whether the fader is moved or not or plus 1.5 %, I believe it is broken because even when I disable the master and beat sync switches and move the fader and stop the other deck, I am still unable to change the pitch......the problem becomes real after deck two has already been mixed with deck one and I want to place deck two back to the original speed......but this can't be done without some very radical up and down movements of the shift slider which, of course, you can't do this during a live gig or you are likely to look and sound like an amateur ...........

I hope they do fix this problem in the next version as I'm unsure how to resolve this before my next gig. Not really having much confidence with this device having this issue so please have the developers analyze together with some actual DJs who can humanize the process.  thank you for listening!

@george > Again, this is called software pickup, as explained above.

As I mentioned, our engineers are aware of the request for relative pitch, but we don't know if/when it would be added.
