How to use the Roll effect like that djm909 on DDJ 1000 ?

If it's even possible, how can the DDJ 1000 do what this guy is doing from 0:43 to to 1:13?

He is using djm909 mixer and he wrote in the description that he uses the "roll" and the "delay" effect.

It looks like he is shortening and lengthening a "recorded loop" through a fader.
