XDJ XZ

Hi. I have an issue with an xdj xz. The USB ports are totally dead. Doesn’t connect via link. Only works in export mode. Please help me. I don’t want to give it for service without checking with you. I used it only for 4 gigs.

The firmware is up to date.

I am not able to do anything about firmware even if I want to. The USB ports are dead.

Tried connecting 3 laptops - 2 windows and 1 Mac. It doesn’t recognise the controller.

I tried removing usb composite devices which are grey and re installed drivers at least trying to make midi work.

Works perfectly with export via lan and usb.

The USB port light doesn’t blink when the pendrive is inserted.

I tried rolling back to a previous registry on the same laptop also before installing the rekordbox 6.

The only thing different was that rekordbox 6 was installed in 1 of the laptops.

Please you have to sort this out for me

All lights come on when the unit is powered including the usb reading lights

Error while opening “xdj xz asio” this shows up.

The unit is still under warranty, but i don’t want to send it right now to be opened unless I am sure it is not a software issue within the system.

The store I bought it from says to give it to a service center. It hurts to give something so soon for service.

Please please please sort this out.

Leave the USB ports being dead, but why not recongnising as midi.

Tried serato also. Did not connect.

There is one important thing which u can check if it is related to hardware, check the schematics between USB ports and usb midi port.

I am not sure if rekordbox needs a driver in export mode.

Even via the usb cable i can link up to export mode.

All pen drives are in fat32

 

Can some from pioneer respond to this

 

In India we are not allowed to travel from state to state as of now. How am I supposed to give it for service. Service centres insist I come in person and deliver.

 

Is there anyway to reinstall firmware via link

@Angelo > I'm sorry to hear nothing is working on the USB ports, and I would suggest that you have it serviced. If you can't take it in yourself, are you able to ship it to them?

Hi..

I sent the player after much difficulty to the service center @bangalore, India. The center has informed that the "USB interface board" has to be replaced.

It should be noted that I have used this player only for 3 gigs.  It is really sad that the quality has been compromised on the side of pioneer on this piece of equipment. I have owned practically all pioneer dj in the past 20 years, i can send you the list of equipment i have owned, check my profile, nothing has failed so bad. 

After service i have to live with the an uncertainty before and every gig. So the questions is that I get the short end of the stick? (it is an expensive piece of equipment, it would take me years to save up to get another one)

I am still awaiting the service (although i have lost interest in receiving it).

Is this is how it is done always, when equipment fails, it is just repaired and given back even if it is almost brand new?

JUST FYI

  • I USE OTHER PIONEER GEAR AND OTHER EQUIPMENT AT HOME WITH THE SAME CABLES AND SAME DRIVES. EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECT.
  • THIS HAS FAILED DURING COVID TIMES AND I WAS NOT AT A GIG WHEN IT FAILED, THANK GOD.

I'm sorry you're frustrated with the repair policy, but yes - if your unit fails after the return period with your retailer (typically 30 days), then it would go for servicing with an authorized repair facility. It's not our intention to have any equipment fail, which is why we cover it with a warranty of 1 year from date of purchase.

I expect that if they had to replace the USB interface board that it will be returned functioning properly, as it is also required that they thoroughly check the unit after repair for full performance.

Hi..Thanks for your response

I understand pioneer have their policies.  Since the product is new in the market. and the board which is being changed is an essential part of the system, Even if it was button which was damaged or some fader replacing the part is valid. I know some electronics fail for no reason. The only thing i might be expecting is extension of the warranty at least for the new part which is going in, lost my trust in the player, anyways it is a lesson not to invest again big. And to make situations worse due to the covid i am spending a bombshell on courier. If i used the product I wont even be on this forum.

I have purchased lots of electronics, there have been hiccups, but there is a difference in response with pioneer compared with other companies, it may be just because it is industry standard.

Any ways, no harm in me trying,  because this has really devastated me. 

You can go ahead and close this thread. Or even better delete also.

I have pioneer dj india also in loop who are helping me out.
