ID3 tags not updating in Windows Explorer

I'm using the 'Album' ID3 tag to enter info into all the songs in my collection.

Whatever I type in this field is stored (it's there when I restart Rekordbox) and for most* files this info (so the updated 'Album' tag) is consequently shown in Windows Explorer in the 'Album' column.

*And there's my question: not all songs in my collection show the 'Album' tag that I entered in Rekordbox in Windows Explorer. Why?

These tags in question aren't only missing in Windows Explorer but also in other software (MP3tag for example) so Rekordbox is the only program showing them.

Also, it's all different types of files (MP3/FLAC/AIFF/WAV) and I'm aware that I shouldn't expect tags to stick to AIFF/WAV but I do expect them to stick to MP3 and most FLAC's...

Not sure why you're posting that here. As I've said, it's all about the 'Album' tag and your document (which I read before posting) shows that this tag is written to almost all audio-filetypes.

So as far as I can tell that document doesn't help me, but if you know any other way to help me find an answer to my question that would be highly appreciated!

In preferences > analysis > key analysis tick the box.

Then try changing tags. I remember from a RB 5 version that when this box wasn't ticked the under laying behaviour was that tags weren't properly written to the file. I might have been fixed since then but I never changed this setting just in case.

That particular box was already ticked. Thanks for your help though.

I use mp3tag for most of my tag editing. I find it more reliable,. If you make your changes in mp3tag, it stores the changes in the file. Then all you have to do in Rekordbox is right click the song (or songs) and select "reload tag".

Not sure why Rekordbox sometimes does not write tag changes to the song file. I have witnessed it, but have not tried to figure out why.
