Hey Tony,
Set your channel trims so the peaks are just into the orange (just into + dB), and adjust the master to be the same. Within rekordbox, adjust the headroom to a point where the output is loud enough:

So after using a friends DDJ SX3 w/Serato controller and being impressed with how far some of the technology had come i went out and purchased a DDJ 800 - Its the first time I've used Rekordbox or other any digital DJ platform.
To say I was underwhelmed by the volume would probably be an understatement and it just didn't seem right. Through trial and error of using different equipment (monitors/laptops/cables/controllers/db meter etc) I've narrowed it down to Rekordbox itself. I downloaded DJ Algoriddim as an alternative platform to test and using the same equipment setup and same controller settings the latter produced an increase in volume of 6db consistently.
As a result I decreased the headroom by 6db in Rekordbox which gave me the additional output but it kept clipping so I had to back off a neutral trim, reducing the gain and defeating the objecting. Turning off Autogain made little difference so those features work as they should but do not give me the volume. To the contrary with the additional volume of DJ Algoriddim it wasn't clipping and levels sat well (therefore assuming its not a gain setting difference between the two platforms).
I prefer the features of Rekordbox but what options do I have to gain that volume?

Thanks Pulse. However, the problem persists. Doing the above doesn't essentially provides the same results, I have to back off the trims to stop clipping which is created by the reduced headroom. This in turn reduces the volume added (by adjusting the headroom in the first place) leaving me at square one.
@Tony > Where are the trims at / what's the channel meter and master meter level?
Have you adjusted the trim or master in the software?
Starting at a neutral 12 O'clock position and adjust either way depending on song to get to just into +db. Removing the headroom gives extra volume but just pushes it up towards +9db/+12db so i need to to back off the trims and as you imagine it reduces volume. Either way cranking the master is simply quieter than the DJ app.
I'm only making adjustments on the controller (bar changing headroom), not adjusting master or trims in Rekordbox. Should I be? I thought they were the same adjustments?
Appreciate the help - first time using software!
Same problem as:
Volume is low, but internally rekordbox is clipping and compressing.
