Hey Rob,
Sounds like the DDJ went into the "demo" mode; that happens after leaving it for a few minutes. You can disable that in the preferences if you'd like.
Whilst in Automix the automatic crossfade was selected to commence when the second track started, however on occasions this happened whilst there was 20 seconds remaining on the track playing on Deck 1. I went into Automix options and deselected automatic crossfade. Although the music continued playing the pads starting flashing through all colours and the displays in the centre of the pads changed to show either the Pioneer logo or a strange label.
I shut down and restarted both the controller and rekordbox, things were restored to normal operation then?

Thanks Pulse, I’ll look into that.
What setting do I need to adjust to prevent the standby deck starting too soon before the playing deck when using the Automix feature? This doesn’t always happen but there can be up to a 20 second crossfade between som3 tracks?
The demo setting can be adjusted in rekordbox under the controller preferences:

As for the crossfader time, it's currently not adjustable but we have received requests to allow both customization of the transition start point and duration. Unfortunately we don't have a timeline for implementation.
Hi Pulse,
I followed the advice above and disabled demo mode. Last night I found another similar issue whilst DJing at a party. A couple of hours into the set the display in the left hand pad changed from the usual to a blank platter with the only information showing being the deck number (1) and a single yellow progress clock finger rotating as the track played. I could continue to use the controller but the track information did not reappear on the left hand side?
