Rekordbox take 15 minutes to start and crashes sometimes

Hi all,

Can anyone help me out with this?

As the title says, rekordbox takes 5 minutes to start, and then when i see the welcome-screen, a windows messages is also displayed which says that windows had to close rekordbox. The second time i tried to start rekordbox, the welcome screen is displayed after 5 minutes but nothing more happens.. just an hourglass when i move the cursor over the welcomescreen. finally after 9 minutes more, rekorbox finally started and i can work.

It basically acts like this is a slow computer or something. but it isn't and every other program is working just fine. Windows was recently installed on this computer so it is a fresh install

facts:

-I run windows XP 32bit with all available updates

-this happened with version 1.5, then i downgraded to 1.4.1.0, and the same thing happened

-as soon as i try to run rekordbox, i do see Rekordbox.exe instantly in the processes-tab of the task manager

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!!

What are the specs of your computer, also, is there any errors/warnings in the Application Logs at all?

Hey there, thanks for your reply!

First let me say that the crashing only seems to happen the first time after an install/upgrade/downgrade of Rekordbox. After that it works, but takes a total startup time of about 15 minutes.

  • There are no errors/warnings of any kind in the eventviewer during the 15 minutes it took to startup Rekordbox, which i just did again

  • There are 2 errors when i search for the phrase "rekorbox" in the eventviewer. These are probably from during the installing/dowgrading/upgrading earlier and the crashes that happened

Faulting application rekordbox.exe, version 1.4.1.0, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5781, fault address 0x0000c136.

Faulting application rekordbox.exe, version 1.5.0.15, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5781, fault address 0x0000c136.

sorry about the last few reposts, my answer didn want to appear. So number 10:

if i delete all the music from rekordbox, it does not make a difference, so i dont think its a database problem. It also happened the first time without a database even configured. The external FAT 32 disk for gigs was never connected to this computer

@ Pulse - thanks for your input by the way.. also just to be clear about the pointers, i did:

  1. remove all the usb devices except keyboard and mouse

  2. rename all the datafiles to .old

it does not make a difference..

Got to echo @emielll on this one! Been using Rekordbox fine up until now, and then just experienced my first "Rekordbox has stopped working, Windows must now close this application". Wasn't quick enough to get a screenshot of the details box from the crash warning.

Running Windows 7 (64-bit), DJM900 and 2 x CDJ900, connected via LAN hub to my laptop. Playing in LINK mode, and shortly after crashing the left hand deck played about a 35 second buffer of music, then crashed with an E8302 (obviously due to the link being broken with RB).
