I'm So Damn Frustrated!...
Until recently Rekordbox was being unremarkably well behaved; in fact I was one of the many thousands who suffered with a Chronic case of 'E8302-itis', so I had no doubt in Rekordbox as it never used to misbehave, but now sadly I am one of the many who suffer with Rekordbox constantly crashing.
I have a library of roughly 23000 tracks which I've thoroughly checked for any problems or corruption and found none surrisingly (using MP3 Eval and other tools). I've drilled down as far as a complete removal of the application, any associated files (even the hidden ones) and checked to see if any registry entries exist to make sure that a fresh install is exaclty that.
So here's my problem explained:
- I'm using an Alienware M18x with the following spec:
Intel I7 Extreme Quadcore CPU @ 2.5 Ghz
16GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 Mhz
2x internal HDD's installed (as C & D): C is my system drive, D (750GB 7200rpm Momentus XL standard spindle) is my audio Library
OS: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64 bit
Rekordbox v1.5.0 (latest version that I am aware of)
- From no existing installation I firstly verify my audio library is intact and contains no corruptions - There are none
- I install Rekordbox v1.5.0 and befor inporting any tracks, I run and close it 2 or 3 times it to verify it does run without crashing - Which it does
- In Rekordbox, I select File / Import / Folder and browse to where my Audio Library is on D:\Music\Artists
- Rekordbox successfully imports the entire folder of tracks, at which point (to prevent a crash corrupting the database) I exit Rekordbox and run it again
It's well worth mentioning at this stage, that at no point thus far in this explanation, have I attempted to connect Rekordbox to my DJM2000 & CDJ200's; there just hasn't ben a chance to becuase theoretically (and I think by default) Rekordbox does not analyse while the Link is enabled. Plus the crashing has occured to often, I've not used the Link to eliminate that as any possible cause.
- I observe Rekordbox sequentially analysing each track
Now, at first, track analysis plods on uneventfully but within the hour (or there abouts) I find that Rekordbox has crashed and on top of the application window, a Windows 7 dialogue box appears stating the usual 'blurb' ...
Recordbox.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution
is available
- I restart Rekordbox and it continues to analyse, this time for less time - anywhere between 10 seconds to a few minutes before it crashes again
- I restart again and this time Rekordbox crashes within only a few seconds
- Restart a further time and from this point on, restarting Rekordbox only results in the application crashing almost immediately
So that's the problem in a nutshell and it is, as I'm sure everyone else will will qualify - bloody annoying because I'm Seriously restricted for DJing with the kit that I've invested So Much money in to achieve the fullest potential! - Right Now, I can can drive but I've got no steering wheel!
So in aid of gettting assistance in resolving this, here's the following required questions answered:
0) Have you read the "READ ME FIRST" thread in its entirety before posting: Yes, I swear it!
1) Operating System: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1
2) OS Type: 64bit
3) Rekordbox version: 1.5.0
4) Using LINK: No
4a) LINK Connection method: Would be DJM2000 if it was connected
4b) Using with CDJs: Yes (CDJ2000's running v4.04 if I was using the Link)
5) Hard drive / Flash drive / SD card file system: 2 internal SATA HDD's: 2nd drive (with Audio Library) is NTFS
5a) Does the device have multiple partitions: Yes
5b) If it's a flash drive, is it a U3 device: N/A
5c) With what utility did you format the device: Windows used to format any device (Int' laptop HDD's or USB/SD media) in this occurence
6) Have you scanned your files for errors: Yes - None found at file system or MP3 (etc.) integrity level
7) Have you scanned your drive for errors: Yes - None found
8) Is Rekordbox crashing at all: Yes - Contstantly now
8a) If crashing, is it resulting in: Application crashed with a Windows 7 Dialogue box: "Rekordbox.exe has stopped working. A crash dump file is also produced in the C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox\Crashes folder
8b) If not crashing, are there any error messages: N/A
9) Are you able to repeat / reproduce the problem: Yes
9a) If yes, can you do it consistently: Yes
10) Any other notes regarding your setup only: Provide as much detail of the issue here:
- No unusual hardware or software characteristics exist on the local system.
- No other similar software is running or indexing the system simultaniously
- No other application is accessing the audio files recognised by the Rekordbox importation process during analysis
- The system CPU resources is approximately 3%-6% during analysis or importation
- The system memory is approximaately 3%-5% utilised (16GB physical memory) during operation analysis of the imported audio files
Please Pioneer, Forun Funksters, can anyone help another perplexed Rekordbox user?
