[SOLVED] CDJ 2000nxs question or final verdict? :)

The matter is simple, I finally had enough spare money to upgrade my gear, I actually have two 900 and felt in love with the 900nxs. But for somewhat less the money of 2 new 900nxs I found a pair of 2000nxs in gorgeous conditions and still one year of pio's guarantee on them.

I'm no kind of superdj and probably gonna use half of the features on both decks, what it is really important to me(and guess everybody) is reliability. Seen the similarity of the two nxs, I assume pioneer just ported the 2000firmware to a slightly cheaper device, even though, after one year of technological evolution, it could also be a plain 2000nxs hardware(cpu and so on) transplanted in a less luxury case, with less bells&whistle like leds and card slot..

oook, end of personal ot speculations.. is the 2000nxs finally fine? do you lucky owners are finally enjoying your devices happily? ora should I wait to get more infos and the new 900s?

Thanks a lot and merry Christmassss! :)

In all fairness, I would say the CDJ 2000 NXS is fine for use.  There are certain features on the decks that might still need to be looked at but generally I would say it's good.  For most of us, a lot of the disappoint came as a result of paying full price for a brand new flagship unit that had a lot of bugs so the frustration was built as newer bugs got introduced when a "fix" was what we were looking for.  I would stick to the 2000 but if you have the opportunity to get wither one, and your funds are limited, you should consider other costs to you if you were to buy the 2000s over the 900s.  For example, if you already have cases for the 900s, you might not be able to fit the 2000s in that case so look at your over all cost before making a decision.  One thing is for certain, the 2000s and the new 900 nxs are way too similar in features.  Another thing to consider is that the demand for the 2000s will most likely be higher than the 900s (in resale) so if you decide to sell in a while, I think the 2000s will go easier.

Good luck with your choice and let us know which way you go and how you feel after a while.

Merry Christmas!

for  me the 2000s nexus work okay, they still have bugs but they don't affect me. what I'm not happy with, it's the way pioneer handles the firmware issue: firmware upgrades often break things that were working before, they don't listen to customers and so on, and i can see the same pattern for the rekordbox software and other products like the controllers. for this reason I don't consider the nexus reliable and trustworthy: if i was a club owner or if I had to earn my money working with the CDJs I'd definitely NOT buy the nexus.

for your case you have to think what is the benefit of the nexus 2000 (or 900) over your 900. you'd have the waveform and the automatic sync. keeping in mind that if you don't beatgrid precisely every track the auto sync is useless and anyway it's light years behind the sync system of Traktor, ask yourself if it's really worth to spend all this money to have a colored waveform (that you can get also for much less money if you plug Traktor into your 900s).

that said i perfectly understand that you might still want the new cdjs because they are cool new gadgets :D i too shelled out a huge pile of money to get the 2000 nexus, and it was a completely useless expense for me, because I had a perfectly working Traktor DVS on my turntables. Just bought them because I wanted them LOL. so if you insist on buying the cdjs (last warning: you can pay an amazing holiday or acquire some other awesome gadget for this money...), my advice is to stay away from the 900 nexus. my experience with the 2000nxs is that the firmware of the 900nxs will be terrible, full of bugs and will make your blood boil. if you can get the 2000 nexus second hand and cheaper the 900nexus go for it. the 900 nxs will not be 100% usable for at least one year. get the 2000 nexus, you'll spend less money, you'll have more functions (hot cues) and a much better firmware.

Walter, Julia, thanks for spending some time sharing your thoughts with me, I assume that defintely 2000nxs would be easier to sell than the 900, and it is nice to see that both of you are saying that the 2000nxs are now usable.. That was my main deal breaker. :) and Julia, ofcourse it's also the same for me too.. I want some fancy life after years of the 900 display.. as told before I am no pro dj, is kinda passion for my spare time and free bOOze :D but for the couple of times per months that I play in front of a real crowd, there are endless hours spent at home trying new tracks and dreaming.. so I never regret the money spent for buying gear..

thank you again for your kind help, I hope to read also someone else opinion soon.. all the best and season'greetings to both of you and your families. ^_^

I have had the Nexus' since release, they are definitely at a usable state now, in the beginning it was a mess. There are still some bugs that need to be ironed out but nothing really that are showstoppers in my opinion. I use them every weekend, 2-3 gigs per and they are pretty solid to get through each gig. Now just fix the issues/annoyances and we will have good decks :)

Just to update you guys, the seller of the 2000nxs vanished in the wind and meanwhile found a very good deal on 2 900nxs shiny new. Rough guess, I now have them here. :)
