step by step connecting rekordbox to pioneer cd 2000 or nexus with pc

Hi everyone !!

After a long struggle I'm finally getting a break to play in the club the way i actually wanted to enter. so this club is having a pioneer cdj 2000 or nexus, after watching a whole lot of videos of how to connect rekordbox to the pioneer gear, i did not find a single video showing it with PC setup although its mentioned on the FAQ terms. I'm currently using pioneer ddj-sx but i don't want to enter a club with the controller.

right . so my point is

1) can someone suggest me a video link with PC setup if possible

2) do i need to download any drives (reckordbox 3.2.1 installed) hope its the latest

3) apart from 2 USB cables what else do need to carry

4) is it just plug in and play or do i have to do some advance settings

5) can i plug in and play when other dj is playing on the other deck

5) will rekordbox be safe to use without any crashes CZ i will use it for the first time without even giving it a try before.

Thanks

1) Follow the same instructions as per the Mac setup, other than a few naming differences, you should be doing the same things (disabling wifi, allowing the firewall permissions, etc).

2) Unless you plan on using them as controllers or audio interfaces, no.

3) If you are LINKING the players, you need ethernet cables, not USB cables. If the club doesn't have them linked already (they may be linked one to the other if they only have 2 players), you would want to take an ethernet switch as well, allowing you to connect your computer and all the players.

4) Provided you have already configured your firewall, you should be fine.

5) Yes!

6) Take a USB drive prepared with your tracks in the event you're unable to get your network link running.

ok lets make it a lil more clear plz

step 1 enter the booth check if the players are linked with Ethernet cables. if not link it

step 2 plug in the usb cables from both cdjs to the PC

step 3 put on the rekordbox and start playing

the club is having only 2 cdjs . also the cdjs have to be linked to the mixer through Ethernet cable .?

I'll say it again...

NO! NO USB REQUIRED UNLESS YOU ARE USING THEM AS A CONTROLLER FOR SOFWTARE.

If the club only has 2 CDJs and you don't want to connect your PC, you're fine connecting one CDJ to the other via ethernet. BUT! If you want to add your computer using rekordbox as a source, you'll need an ethernet switch (hub) to connect more than two devices together. Plug the ethernet from your computer to the switch, then from each CDJ to the switch as well. Disable your wifi and then use the rekordbox or LINK buttons on the CDJs to connect to rekordbox on your computer.

The CDJ-350 does not link to rekordbox; it can only use rekordbox-prepared USB drives.

No possible - the CDJ-350 and the CDJ-850 can not connect via link to another player or rekordbox mobile / computer. The CDJ-2000, CDJ-900, XDJ-1000, XDJ-R1, XDJ-RX and XDJ-AERO are the only players that can link wired / wirelessly.

ok so the ethernet cable is the same cable which we use to connect our daily internet through the modem right and u mean this same modem also is used to link the players.

from what i understood is

1) if im connecting 2 players i don't need the router or hub, just 1 Ethernet cable will go directly to my computer from the linked players.

2) but if I'm connecting more then 2 players i need to use router or a hub.

and do i need to do any settings on the software to connect it to the players?

No - if you are using no computer, you can link the two players directly. If you are using one computer and one player, you can link the player directly to the computer.

If you are using 2 (or more) players AND a computer, you need a hub. A router is not advised as some have traffic shaping / management or other security features which may impede the link traffic and thus cause problems using rekordbox link.

There is no special software settings however you should make sure you have either disabled or configured your firewall to allow the traffic through. See this guide for some of the basic troubleshooting steps in preparation.

ok read the whole troubleshooting and also watched a couple of videos . but the sad thing is there is not a single hands on video on net about connecting it from scratch i mean i know every 1 is having this players to try before but the prob is i don't have 2000 nexus with me any any of my friends to give it a try. hopefully if you can come up with a detailed video it would be such a great help.

also after reading the troubleshooting , do i need internet connection for the p[layer do be connected or linked..??

There is information on connecting the products in the manuals, probably why there is no video - it's quite basic and already documented.

You do not require an internet connection to link the players.

yup i got it . but i also see quite a lot of unwanted videos out there , so i would say basic foundation is more important then any other thing.

anyways thanks a lot for being helpful so far.

thanks
