Folgen[CLOSED] XDJ R1 next firmware update? Product is currently not fit for sale.
Hi, I like many others here recently received the XDJ R1. I also have CDJ 1000's and a DJM850 so I am a regular pioneer user. I purchased my unit with a 30 day money back guarantee which gives me two more weeks to make up my mind. Please let me know how far along pioneer are with fixing or updating the firmware for the following issues:
Loop not working properly, skipping on tracks which play fine on other pioneer devices.
Track jumping while using jogwheels to scratch.
BPM wandering and losing sync after 20/30 seconds.
Sound quality poor on usb playback of mp3 @ 320kbps and all. Sound okay on midi use.
Some tracks stopping mid play with no explanation.
Hardware volume sliders becoming dead when using effects on app.
FX hardware knobs same. They should reset fx when the app is back to the browser window but don't.
Failure of unit to map BPMS properly or loop on CD even after a number of minutes.
I understand this is a new product but this is a long list of faults, there may be more which I have yet to find. The unit would suit me perfectly for mobile use if it worked as advertised but I literally have two weeks to decide. In the meantime one of your competitors has a similar product in the offing coming soon. I would appreciate your time in answering these issues. I understand that Gavin is answering these posts as an intermediary and thank him for his time but the engineers who released this product without resolving this issue have damaged my faith in pioneer immensely. I am a qualified electronic engineer and these faults became evident to me after an hour's testing so why did nobody at the manufacturing stage sort them? Thanks for your time.

Again my apologies but I have to disagree about VD it's awful and a complete cop out in my opinion but that's just an opinion after all.
I've tried to post to pioneer but they redirected me to your post closing my query hence the reason I started the comments on your one, the unit is back with Decks and I'm looking for a replacement ASAP that's the only way forward I'm not waiting for firmware updates for weeks at a time when I've just paid nearly £1000 for a brand new concept unit.
I think pioneer are handling this pathetically and asking people to wait for updates and ignoring them is totally out of order.

@Ross no problem. I think tbh that the lines of communication between the pioneer guy on here (Gavin) and his colleagues in Japan are slow due to time difference and the fact that pre-production units didn't seem to have these issues. I feel sure there's panic, hence the lack of feedback. I've had 900 views on that youtube video from all over the world so it seems like it's the same in all units. Most people on here will be pioneer fans and wanted the unit to work so I guess many of us are hoping it will be sorted within the 30 day money back guarantee which a lot have bought it with. I know I'd prefer to get it sorted and work with it than send it back. For mobile work it's a handy little thing to plank down and start quick. I use DVS with Virual DJ and tbh it's as good as serato or traktor when you use it that way. Rock solid and excellent sound quality. I don't use the sync button :)
@Anthony > Just wanted to add another factoid into this discussion, here in the States, two of the biggest brick & mortar retailers of DJ equipment (Guitar Center and Sam Ash) do not have the R1 in their inventory (a bad sign imo), I remember when the DDJ-SX was released these stores had them in stock a week before it came out, I also wonder why Gavin is the only Pioneer rep responding to the R1 threads?, I know of two others (Pulse and Jay) who respond to the other threads, btw Gavin is a PR guy from what I was told.

My function is to be a liaison for you guys and the engineers, working to resolve issues as they come up. There are current stock shortages with the R1 which may be why your retailers don't have them at present.
I appreciate all your frustrations in this thread and I can only apologise. I have set aside several hours for tomorrow afternoon (around 3pm UTC) to test your reported issues. If any of you are around, perhaps we could work on a case by case basis...?
Hey Gavin, I assumed you were a pioneer employee as you have a pioneer badge. I'm getting alerts on my phone as posts go up so if I can help I will. I am frustrated but I often have problems when I am in transition with gear and I also like problem solving. I will also say though that I'll be jumping off this thread and returning the unit if they don't sort it soon otherwise I'll be stuck with it and the more negative press it receives the harder it will be to sell second hand. (Not a threat just an observation)

I don't understand why the engineers don't take their own music from their libraries or just take loads of tracks from different sources. Good mp3s and crap ones , wavs, and aiffs!! Put them all in rekord box and load em onto a usb stick. Then practise dj ing with the unit!!!, Use the sync button, cycle it on and off ...play it loud to hear it's quality. Scratch it up , spin it back, spin it forward....loop it loads!! .. use remote box, press the buttons quickly, use more than one effect at the same time. Take the iPad , go to the toilet and try mixing from there!!!! Then they might actually see .... It will crash in less than 20 min!!!
@Bobgavid > I don't think the engineers are actual DJ's themselves (I maybe wrong), but if they were they would have already been able to replicate the issues we are having just by testing the unit like we all have the past two weeks, none of these "send problematic files" or "make a video to show issue" requests, as Anthony had mentioned before the pre-production units did not have any issues, so why are the retail units so problematic?, does not make sense to me, and as Gavin has stated above there is a shortage in supply, does that mean a lot of units have been sold?, how come not more owners are having issues and posting them on the forum if that's the case?
@Bobgavid ! Yes - Yes - Yes! Thats my Problem. I just have to work with my broken Mep7000 (someone put a glas of drink over it). I was so happy to work with the xdj-r1 - but its not possible!

thats normal if you are not in "Vinyl mode", it's called stutter cue or something along those lines

i'm from italy and i have the same problem... the loop is out of sync and xdj r1 crash....i hope that pioneer solve very fast....for me time is work....

ok tanks gavin in next week i have more party and i hope in a firmware solution for this in a short time....the summer is at the clou of situation and my xdj r1 is unable to work! go pioneer go! :)
another crash now playng with usp pen... after 20 minutes of playng i click in a folder and i display the text usb and the player was unabled to use...after 15 second the second player stop the music whithout the possibility of usb disconnect...i restart the xdj r1 and all is reset....very bad in live set with more person.....sorry for my bad english....i'm waiting a solution.....very vell and fast!

Maybe in a month's time, just being optimistic.
Replacement unit arrived half an hour ago.....DID NOT UPDATE TO THE NEW FIRMWARE, all functions perfect, loops, cues, scratching, timings all good!
Ill keep running this older firmware and let you know how that pans out!!
@ gavin do you know something about a new firmware? the engineers working on this? for us buyers of pioneer is bad to be in the darkness.... a few days of purchasing XDJ r1....help!
