XDJ-RX Mic trim and deck volume.

So Ive been using the XDJ-RX at mobile gigs for months now and I feel like I just can't get the perfect levels when playing music and using the mic.... I find that I have to turn the master volume down to about 12 O'clock indoor for the mic not to distort - but when you bring the master down to that level now the music is not loud enough so I have to bring up the trim for the decks and come close to clipping and barley see any levels for the master..

If I leave the master up around zero I'm more happy with the music levels but then when you use the mic its crappy and clips....... I use typically an SM58 mic but I also tried an Audio-Technica mic and same deal.

anyone els notice this? or am I nuts?

Will test with my 58 and Audio tech 3000. Haven't noticed this before and I am anal about the mic sound at my weddings, so will test out. For now it sounds like it's a tweaking the settings thing.

Hi,

Do you dip the channel slider volume when you talk or try to talk over the song playing at full volume?
I was taught to dip the music volume as you speak (I don't use the talk over function!) that way you should be heard better than if you are talking over the music which is playing at volume without dipping the fader volume.
I used my new XDL RX decks last night for the first time using my mic (Shure Beta 58), the master was around 11 o'clock with the mic volume pot around the 9/10 o'clock mark without any problems with distortion etc. it has to be a volume adjustment setting issue.
Thanks.

Hello, I have a xdj-rx as well.  I am super specific with my quality of sound.  With my master volume at around 12 oclock and my mic volume around 10;30 i constantly have a hiss noise.   I have all xlr cables even too my "qsc monitors.  I have found that even with no mic cable plugged into controller that the noise is still there.. when the mic selector is turned off, noise is gone. its like there is a problem in the controller. i even purchased a power conditioner and attempted different power sources.  Any help is much appreciated!
