Key display format

Hi,

All my keys in the id3 tags are written in musical key - its kinda most universal type to store it and the expected format of the musical key id3 frame according to the norm.. The software I use (Beatunes, Serato) do understand the musical notation and translate/display the key in the camelot or open key format which is easy to understand and get oriented.

The problem is that the Rekordbox (and hence the CDJ & XDJ as well) displays the key in its raw form, so I see crap like c#m and similar, what is a complete disaster and its almost useless...

Would it be possible to implement a key translation, so the native musical notation form is displayed (user choose from musical, camelot, openkey) in a more friendly way, no matter in what format the tag in the file is written? This would unify the the way how the key is being used for all the users using different standards of the key written in the tag (in a non destructive way)

Thank you!

Thank you!

Marek

Using the Key analysis to create the Camelot Wheel has been suggested and may appear in a future update.

@djjay

Thanks - sounds great!

But what in case the key is already there but I only need it to display it in a different format? - it makes no sense to analyze the files over and over again... Having a simple option to display the key in the user selectable format, no matter in what format the key currently would be also nice to have feature and a systematic approach which follows the key frame standard.

@pulse HI what is the status of "Using the Key analysis to create the Camelot Wheel". Waiting for a while now really appreciated if this will be fixed. A lot of deejays using Camelot notation instead of musical, open key. It means a lot for me. Thanks in advance!

@Peter > We would all love to see this incorporated as soon as possible.  Unfortunately, the Camelot wheel and notation system are patented and require a commercial license so it may take a little more time.  Thank you for your patience.
