Hi there - many thanks in advance for the advice offered.
I'm a bedroom vinyl dj and I have a second pair of 1200s that I'm looking to trade in for a CDJ and DJM. My question is: what should I be looking to trade in for? I realize this is a near impossible question to answer without background, so here's what I hope are some key points:
- I've got a vinyl collection that I'm considering converting to digital
- I have 100% no experience with CDJs or DJMs
- I only play at home
- Part of my motivation is to be able to offer my kids something to learn on if they do get into it
- I'm note against trading my set up and adding some cash to get better gear
- Without going crazy, I'd like to get the best gear I can get - for quality and longevity, and also for investment/resell considerations
- I don't want to interface with my/a computer while playing
- Ideally, I'd like to have the future option of playing in local clubs if all goes according to plan
- With knowing very little more than model names and approximate values, I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of CDJ850s + DJM400 as a fair trade, and then a level up from that +cash as the next option.
Specifically, I've got a couple questions:
- Given the summary above, do CDJ850s + DJM400 sound like a decent idea, or is it worth investing some cash and stepping into something bigger and better?
- Is there anything that stands out as completely off or wrong about my thinking? Like, why waste your time with 850s when they're completely flawed...or something blatant that screams of a red flag?
-Are there any major changes coming that should be kept in the mind when considering the investment...like moving completely away from USBs? (I'm struggling with an example here...just trying to avoid major pitfalls)
For reference - here's the ad I've posted for my gear:

I've had a few offers, but with them come the realization that I don't really know what I'm getting myself in to...so I'm hoping for any advice I can get.
Thanks for your time and help
