[CLOSED] Pioneer DDJ SR Not Responding

Whenever I use my Pioneer DDJ SR for longer than an hour the controller freezes up and does not respond to anything.   The music keeps on playing, I use it with Serato, and I can manually click on icons in serato which respond so I don't think its an issue with Serato.  Anyone experience anything like this?

Going to need a bit more information about what you're doing and what you're using...

  • what is your operating system

  • what are the specs of your computer

  • what version of the software / firmware are you using

  • what is the source of your music (internal / external drive)

  • have you tried different USB cables / ports

To find the version in Serato: Open Serato, click the Setup button, version number is shown in the bottom left corner.

To find the version of (or to update) your SR firmware: See instructions here.

To find the info for your Mac: Go to the Apple icon in the top left corner, hover over About This Mac, press the OPTION key and click System Information. Key details are shown on the first page of that utility; post the details for the Model Identifier, Processor Name, Speed and Memory.

The source location of your music can be internal (like in the Music folder) or an external drive (like a USB flash drive or hard drive).

Mo El.  I have the same problem.  I download the firmware, but JAR says my DDJ-SR isn't connected. Though it is connected and turned on.

I had this issue when using my Wego.

I thought my computer was fine as it didn't show any signs of CPU overloading or any other glitches, just had the controller freezing issue.

I replaced my laptop for a much higher spec and it's been fine since.

For comparison;

My old laptop - HP TX2, Win7 64Bit, AMD Turion 2.3GHz dual core, 240Gb SSD, 4Gb Ram, really fast with no issues using Itch or SSL. Have to run SDJ at 20ms latency.

My new laptop - HP N204SA, Intel i5 1.7GHz dual core, 240Gb SSD (as above), 16Gb Ram, incredibly fast, Can run SDJ at 2ms latency fine.

As for why your computer can't see the SR I'm not sure as I don't have one.

Hope this helps a bit...

Hi,

I bought a brand new pioneer ddj sr controller a couple of days ago and was unsuccesful in connecting it properly to my PC. I downloaded the driver as well as updated the firmware. When i open serato dj, it says on the right column (licenses) that the device is connected. However, on the top left corner it reads "no compatible dj controller connected. This means that only one deck shows on serato and i can play one song at the time. When i do so, the play and cue buttons work as well as the hot cue and the roll, but the other effects dont work as well as the filter, volume, and crossfader and other controls. I have a gig coming up and am becoming pretty nervous. I have gone on a lot of forums and the situation didnt improve. I tried reinstalling, rebooting, and 2 PCs. Help

@Ahmed > Update the firmware in the SR first, then try again. If that doesn't work, please write back.

Hi, I purchased the ddjsr a week ago and still not able to connect the firmware to my window pc. I'm able to download the firmware but the problem is not connecting to the controller. I'm new to this stuff and it's frustrating the hell out of me. Is there anyone out there that have experencied this and figured out how to fix it?

Have you followed the instructions where it says to press and hold the SHIFT and SYNC buttons on the left deck while turning on the power to the unit? That puts the unit in firmware update mode.

@Joaquin > Those specs are absolutely fine. You can see the system requirements on the Serato page here: http://serato.com/dj/downloads#min-specs

We didn't notice your question as you posted in another users topic that had already been marked "Answered". We apologize for the delay.

Hey Pulse! I know this is not where i should ask you this but i had to:P Im using a cdj 900 standalone with my djm 2000 that im also using for traktor! But  whenever i try to open Maschine together with traktor, it says that the asio from the djm soundcard isn't running!even tho im playing on traktor. The same thing happens if i start with maschine and open traktor. i can get sounds from both programs when i'm using the laptop soundcard but not with thw djm 2000... What to do? And also, my computer is a i5. is that good enough? Do you have any tricks that can relax my cpu a bit?

@Mr. ARG > You're right, it's not the right place - you should be asking in the DJM forum.

But to answer you question, ASIO is designed only to mate to one application, thus unless you're using software-wiring between applications, you can't run both at the same time and split the input / output. Your computer specs are probably fine. In terms of computer, NI has some great info on their site to optimize your computer. Search their forums for the threads.
