[SOLVED] Connecting 2 CDJ-850s and a DJM-850 to VirtualDJ

Hi,

I'll be dj'ing at a club with 2 CDJ-850s and a DJM-850 soon and I want to hook them up to my MacBook running VirtualDJ 7. As I understood I can use the CDJs as a controller (each using a USB cable) and the DJM as a soundcard (again a USB cable). Which brings me to the following 2 questions:

  1. how do the CDJs show up as a controller (for each channel)?
  2. Do I need a powered USB hub?

Thanks!

The CDJs are plug and play with VDJ. I would upgrade VDJ to 7.2 first and test.

To set it up I would just use the soundcards in the CDJs, this way you only need 2 USB cables and will not have to play around with the mixer.

Make sure that you set the CDJs to deck one and deck 2 on the players as they are preset to deck 1 in HID. Also download the CDJ aggregator from this site for the CDJ sound cards
.
I would try and set up before your night or turn up early to make sure you have your settings set up correctly and have your latency settings sorted out first before playing live.

Hope this helps, for more info go to virtualdj.com

@Steven > If you are not familiar with this setup, I wouldn't recommend giving it a go in a live environment with prior experience.

The CDJ850s have soundcards built in so you do not need another soundcard (such as the DJM850). You can connect your CDJs to VDJ and leave the mixer function as normal. All that is required is one USB cable from each player into a USB port on your Mac and thats it!

Please ensure that the firmware is up to date on both your CDJs and that the software is also up to date.

Your Mixer Has
Two USB jacks, each assignable to input or output,
USB input for connecting computers for audio input,
USB output for recording gigs to computer,

It is not HID or MIDI so will not be able to control software, they are only for audio (built in soundcard)

Hope this Helps

@audel > Please only post your issue once - there is no need to post the same thing multiple times across multiple threads. @Taff is correct; your mixer does not appear to be a MIDI device / controller therefore it cannot be mapped to VDJ. Your best option is to set the CDJs and mixer up as normal, then assign the CDJs to the VDJ players.
