So, I have been trying out Rekorbox DJ for a few bar shows and to put it mildly - I'm not impressed. I intended to use it as a backup for venues with low end gear but since Rekordbox DJ is so bug ridden I will have to start carry my CDJ's again.
After my first try out a month ago I reported several bugs in detail but without any reaction from Pioneer.

After the last update I took it for a spin again yesterday and all the bugs are still there, and just using the software for a few hours reveals so many more.
More alarming is that Rekordbox DJ, even though it only uses a few millimeters of CPU on the meter, drives my laptop (that is well within the spec range) into bit crunch noise mode. Like when I'm running 15 different apps at the same time that are really heavy memory consumers. All mixing and effects are external, Rekordbox DJ can't even handle playing two tracks at the same time. I have of course nothing running in the background, bluetooth and wifi off.
How to fix it quick? Unplug the CDJ that is making noise, re-plug it. Only problem is that that stops all sound output. Unacceptable.
For me Pioneer stands for professional DJ products with outstanding stability and sound quality. Rekorbox DJ, with all the bugs and performance issues, makes me feel like I'm an early beta tester, and in my view not even close to be ready for public performances.
Rant over.
