Waveform XDJ-1000 not showing (or too long to load)

I used a laptop running Windows 10 with Rekordbox (not Rekordbox DJ) that is connected to 2 XDJ-1000 by a LAN hub. My collection is located in an external HDD (I've moved my database by selecting the drive in the Database Management option In "Preference"). The External HDD it self is partitioned into 2 drives.

Somehow I can't see a single Waveform in the XDJ-1000 for most song I drop to any (XDJ-1000) player. The songs that actually show waveform only show a (very) small part of the song's waveform.

I suspected that the fact that my external HDD is formatted as NTFS could be the problem. But since it already contain all of my tracks, I would like to ask for advice whether or not it's best to re-format my HDD to FAT32..?

If it has to come to that (reformatting my HDD), is there any safe, easy and fast way to do it..?

You're correct, the improperly formatted drive is the most likely the culprit for the errors. FAT/FAT32 are the required formatting types for the Rekordbox system when using an external drive.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure the proper course for you take with regards to solving the problem. In theory, you could purchase a new external drive, format it properly and then copy/paste the contents from the old drive to the new drive. There's a chance that it may not work if there are some hidden folder/files required by the Rekordbox system.

On your laptop, do you still have a copy of all your analyzed music? If so, perhaps you can try performing an Export from Rekordbox to a new drive (non-partitioned, properly formatted). Then set that drive as the new Database.

These are just a couple ideas off the top of my head. @Pulse or @Mark may be able to recommend a better approach.

The better approach IMO would be to try the most current public beta as it fixes this specific issue..................

FIXED

・The enlarged waveform was not shown on the monitor screen of CDJs and XDJs and the waveform was shown at the beginning of a track where no sound exists when using ONLINE EXPORT (Only on Mac and Win64bit)

Thanks a lot guys for your feedbacks.

@Deejay Dave, I think the situation is a bit different than what you describe. I have sound coming out from the XDJ-1000. It's just that I don't see a waveform. There were some waveform few some song but only a fragment of it. The thing is I'm not to keen on updating my rekordbox if its still in some beta version.

1 thing I forgot to mention is if I load a song into the player inside the rekordbox itself, it seems to be working normally.

I have used similar setup using CDJ2000 mk1 set and DJM 2000 mk1, also using the same external HDD and it works fine. Could it be some kind of firmware issue..?

Please re read the post. It does not say there is no audio it says the waveform was shown at the beginning of a track where no audio exists. Furthermore first part of that sentence says the enlarged waveform was not shown on the monitor screen of xdj........... that sounds awfully similar to "waveform xdj-1000 not showing" ............. am I missing something here?

I've installed the beta 5 version and it shows the waveform, but only the elapsed part of the track. Why doesn't it load instantly like if I were using a flash drive? Is it because of the number of tracks I have? (I have 3089 tracks on my rekordbox collection, all coming from the HDD)

Definitely not the quantity being a factor. I have around 75,000 tracks converted from Serato (via Rekord Buddy) and I do not have this issue. TBH If I had to guess it would be the format of your external MAYBE but if I HAD to put money on it I would suspect the partition would be the culprit here. Lastly YEARS ago I noticed an influx of users having issue with WD (My Passport) external drives.

Do you 100% have ALL these tracks analyzed prior by Rekordbox. As in are the XDJ's reading the database? Saying "Rekordbox Database found.............. press browser knob to load" or something similar?

Yes deejay dave. I'm totally sure that I have all my collection analyzed by rekordbox. I guess I have to try to re-format my HDD afterall... And yes I'm using that WD My Passport hdd. That's double jeopardy I guess. (sighh....) Thanks again guys for your insights. I'll let you guys know after I reformat and delete the partition of my hdd.
